What is an aim trainer?

An aim trainer is a tool for practicing and measuring mouse aim: how fast and how precisely you can move your cursor to a target and click it. This one gives you 30 targets, one at a time. Hit them all as fast as you can, and your hits, misses, and time become one aim score.

Aim is the core mechanical skill in shooters, and it responds well to focused practice. A few short runs a day sharpen your flicks faster than hours of matches, because you spend every second of a run aiming.

Aim combines two things this site measures separately: how fast you react and how fast you click. Test the first with the reaction time test and the second with the clicks per second test.

One mode, one score

Most aim trainers offer a menu of modes: flick shots, grid shot, spider shot, tracking. Each mode produces its own score on its own scale, so none of them tells you how good your aim is overall.

This test takes the opposite approach. One standardized format, fixed for every run: 30 targets, one on screen at a time, consistent target sizing, and spawn distances held within a set band so every run demands about the same amount of cursor travel. Because the task never changes, your score means the same thing tomorrow, and your trend graph tracks real improvement.

The whole formula fits in one line:

Score = targets per second × accuracy × 100. Hit 30 targets in 15 seconds at 90% accuracy: 2.0 × 0.90 × 100 = 180. Spraying clicks costs you accuracy, and slow, cautious aim costs you speed. Clean, fast flicks win.

How this aim trainer works

  1. Pick your target

    Choose a target style (bullseye, dot, ring, or reticle) and a color. Both are cosmetic: every style has the same hitbox, so pick what your eyes track best. Your browser remembers the choice.

  2. Hit the starting target

    Click the center target to begin. The clock starts on that click, so every run measures your first flick from the same known cursor position.

  3. Hit 30 targets

    Targets appear one at a time at a controlled distance from the last one. Click each as fast as you can. Clicks that land inside the arena but off the target count as misses.

  4. Read your score

    After the 30th hit, the test locks and shows your aim score, accuracy, average time per target, and a rank from Beginner to Elite. Beat your best to see the “New best!” flag.

  5. Run it again

    Your best score, average, trend graph, achieved ranks, and run history are saved locally so you can watch your aim sharpen over days and weeks.

Note: The keyboard can start and step through a run as an accessibility path, but only a pointer measures aim. Compare mouse scores with mouse scores and touch with touch.

What is a good aim score?

A good score on this aim trainer is anything above 160. Most people land between 100 and 160 on their first runs, which works out to roughly 600 to 700 milliseconds per target at 85% accuracy. Scores fall into five tiers:

Elite300+Exceptional. Sub-350ms flicks with near-perfect accuracy.
Pro220–299Fast, precise aim. Experienced FPS-player territory.
Advanced160–219Above average. Quick flicks with few misses.
Intermediate100–159The typical range for most people.
BeginnerUnder 100Room to grow. Sensitivity tuning helps a lot here.

For a feel of the math: 500ms per target at 92% accuracy scores 184 (Advanced), 400ms at 95% scores 226 (Pro), and cracking 300 takes roughly 320ms per target at 97%. Speed without accuracy stalls out fast; a 10% miss rate costs more than it saves.

This test isn’t a scientific measurement, but the format never changes, which makes it a reliable benchmark for your aim and a way to track improvement.

How to improve your aim

Tune your sensitivity

Overshooting targets means your sensitivity is too high; dragging to reach them means too low. Adjust in small steps and give each setting a few runs before judging it.

Aim with your arm

Use your arm for the big movement and your wrist and fingers for the final correction. Wrist-only aiming caps your range and tires faster.

Warm up first

Do two or three throwaway runs before your real attempt. Cold hands flick slow, and a short warm-up lifts both your speed and your accuracy.

Stay relaxed

A death grip on the mouse ruins fine control. Loosen your grip, drop your shoulder, and let the flick stop itself instead of forcing it.

Accuracy before speed

Misses cost more than slow hits. Aim to hit every target at a comfortable pace first, then push the pace while holding your accuracy above 90%.

Practice in short sessions

Ten focused minutes a day beats an hour once a week. Aim is a motor skill; your gains come from frequent, rested repetitions, and they compound over weeks.

Factors that affect your aim score

Mouse sensitivity & DPI

The single biggest factor you control. High sensitivity produces fast, wild flicks; low sensitivity produces slow, exact ones. Your best score sits at the setting where you can stop on the target in one motion.

Hardware

A mouse with a good sensor and high polling rate tracks fast flicks without skipping. A high-refresh monitor shows the target sooner and your cursor position more often, which tightens your corrections.

Screen and arena size

Target sizes and spawn distances scale with the arena, so runs on the same screen are comparable. A larger screen means more physical mouse travel per target, which is why cross-device comparisons are rough for every aim trainer.

Technique

Flicking (one fast motion plus a micro-correction) beats dragging the cursor. Good aimers also reset their eyes to the next likely spawn area instead of admiring the hit.

Fatigue & focus

Aim degrades before you notice it. Tired eyes track worse and tired forearms overshoot. If your trend graph dips at the end of a session, that’s your signal to stop.

Input device

Mouse, touchpad, and touchscreen are different skills with different ceilings. Pick one and track it; switching devices mid-week makes your trend graph lie to you.

What is a good aim trainer score?

Most people score between 100 and 160 on their first few runs, which lands in Intermediate. Above 160 is above average, 220+ is fast and precise, and 300+ takes the flick speed and accuracy of an experienced FPS player. Expect fast improvement in your first week.

How is the aim score calculated?

Yes, a lot. Too high causes overshooting; too low slows your flicks. If you overshoot targets here, lower your sensitivity or DPI and give yourself a few runs to adjust before judging the change.

Can I use the aim trainer on mobile?

Yes, tapping targets works the same as clicking. Tapping a touchscreen and aiming a mouse are different skills though, so compare touch scores with touch scores. Your history is stored per browser, so separate devices keep separate records anyway.

Do the target style and color change the difficulty?

No. Every style (bullseye, dot, ring, reticle) is drawn to the same outer diameter and shares an identical clickable hitbox. Color is paint. Pick whatever you see best; scores stay comparable across all the options.

Are scores comparable between devices?

On the same device and browser, yes. Between devices, treat comparisons as rough: screen size, mouse DPI, and refresh rate all shift results, on every aim trainer. Your best and trend are per browser, so your own progress always compares like with like.

How is my data stored?

Your browser stores everything (best score, run history, trend, achieved ranks, and settings) locally using localStorage. Nothing reaches any server, so your results stay private on your device.
